What is the Internet ?
The Internet is a global network of computers, and every computer connected to the Internet is considered part of the network. For example the computer you are reading this on is part of the Internet. People use the internet all around the world, in Asia the total amount of computers connected is 825,094,396 and in Europe the total adds up to 475,069,448. These statistics show how huge the Internet has become around the whole globe.
How and Where did it start ?
There are many different theories on the start of the internet. Some people say development started in 1957 when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1, the first satellite. Others believe that it was started by the US Department of Defence in 1969. However the internet began (1950's) it never became a huge part of our lives until 1989 when WWW. (the world wide web) was invented. As Bill Gates said 'The Internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow.'
The Web, what is it ?
The World Wide Web (WWW.) started in 1989, It is ' the universe of network-accessible information, the embodiment of human knowledge.' So a search browser. It helps people get hold of information online. The web began as a networked information project and Tim Berners-Lee who is now the director of the World Wide Web Consortium developed a vison of the project.
